What 10 Grams of Sugar at Dessert Looks Like

In This Article

When people try to reduce their sugar intake, desserts are often the first to go. But quitting sugar cold turkey often backfires. It can be stressful and unsustainable, leading to cravings and even weight gain — which is why moderation is key.

The American Heart Association recommends no more than 25 grams (100 calories) of added sugar per day for women, and 36 grams (150 calories) for men. So instead of swearing off dessert forever, stick to smarter portion sizes and opt for lower-sugar versions of your favorite treats.

To give you an idea of what that looks like, here are five delicious desserts under 202 calories with 10 grams of sugar or less per serving.
