When you eat well, you sleep well. And when you sleep well, you make better food choices the next day. Nutrition and sleep go hand-in-hand, but finding connections can be tricky when you don’t have all the data in one place. Starting today, you do — with MyFitnessPal’s new sleep feature!

Our new in-app sleep insights feature integrates sleep data from Health Connect by Android and Apple Health with logged foods in your diary, allowing you to see which meals might have impacted the length and quality of your sleep.

HOW TO SEE SLEEP INSIGHTS IN MYFITNESSPAL

  1. Tap Sleep in the More menu of the MyFitnessPal app
  2. Follow the prompts to sync data from your sleep tracker

SEE YOUR OVERALL SLEEP QUALITY, PLUS FOODS YOU LOGGED THAT DAY

Once you’re set up and syncing, your sleep data will appear on the Sleep screen in your MyFitnessPal app. Here, you’ll see a breakdown of how long and well you slept,* plus all the foods you logged that day.

As you log foods to your diary, they’ll appear in your sleep insights, too. (You can also add foods directly from the Sleep screen.)

*Sleep stage insights are currently only available to users tracking sleep with a Google or Apple device, Oura, Fitbit (Android only), Garmin (Apple only), and Pillow (Apple only).

LEARN HOW FOOD AFFECTS YOUR SLEEP

Each day, check your sleep data from the night before. Did you get enough? Any trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? Then look at the meals you logged that day and consider whether food may have been a factor. Connecting these dots will help you choose which eating habits to keep, and which to change for a better night’s sleep.

Bonus for Premium members: The timestamps feature shows exactly when each food was logged. This info helps you see if certain habits — like afternoon coffee or late-night snacking — are impacting your sleep.

Curious about Premium? Here’s a 30-day free trial.
