A holiday focused primarily on a huge feast is bound to get a reputation for gluttony — and Thanksgiving has consistently lived up to that status. However, our data shows we’re not as recklessly overindulgent as we may think. (Now that’s definitely something to be thankful for!)

Looking back at 2016, our users found a responsible balance of gathering with friends and family over a traditional meal of turkey, potatoes, stuffing, cranberries and pumpkin pie, with making sure they got moving (hello, turkey trots) and saving leftovers to enjoy later. Beyond Thanksgiving Day races, we’re hiking more and getting creative with activities — whether it’s ice skating or shopping — and we’re sleeping more, too.
