Can the canned tuna and treat yourself to a piece of tuna steak lightly sautéed in garlic. This tuna recipe from Lose Weight the Smart Low-Carb Way is–yes, you guessed it–low-carb, but also high in lean protein, delivering 40 grams of protein in one serving! Tuna is also a good source of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids and is generally a lower-mercury fish. 2. says 40 grams of protein in one serving in the description, but only 20 grams per serving in the actual recipe. So which is it? and why the bait-and-switch?

    1. 6 ounces of fresh tuna have a little over 40 grams of protein. I’m not sure where you are seeing the 20 grams.

      1. That’s because the recipe was edited to say “41g” instead of the original “20g” 😉

  3. Tuna is not necessarily low mercury – especially albacore. Not recommended for pregnant women.
