The MyFitnessPal Workout Song of Summer

You’re on a run. That song comes on. You smile. You hit repeat. You hit repeat again. You get home. You jump in the shower. You play the song. You get out of the shower. You hit repeat. Your hands are wet. You ruin your phone. You don’t care. This is the song of summer.

This phenomenon got us thinking: What’s the MyFitnessPal workout song of summer? The song you want playing every time you go for a run, the song that gives you a little extra kick to go to the gym, the song that gets you through that last mile on the trails.

We’ve discussed the nuances between songs for working out and songs for the car and songs for the club in the post “Is Workout Music Worth the Distraction?” But maybe we’re overthinking it.

Maybe when we go for a run, we’re just happy if our phone is charged enough to play music. And maybe, when there’s a song stuck in our head, we want to hear it in the gym, in the car, in the tub and in the club.

We expected debate. We had moderators on call. We thought this would “break the Internet” or “go viral.” It didn’t.

Heather R nominated a song. Tina E agreed. Cindy P agreed. Hui Y agreed. Everyone agreed. Kiley W commented: “As soon as I read this that’s the first song in my head lol.”

Lol indeed.
