Want to Copy Meals from Friends in MyFitnessPal? Here’s How!

In This Article

It’s not often you’re encouraged to copy someone else’s work. Whether the topic is patent lawsuits or plagiarized term papers, society’s message is pretty clear: be original, or beware. Even glancing at someone else’s Sunday crossword puzzle can create a household scandal where I’m from.

But let’s face it, what’s the point of having friends if you can’t lean on them now and again? One great way to take advantage of your MyFitnessPal friends is to copy their diary entries when you share a meal together. It’s just one more way that members of the MyFitnessPal community can support each other’s health and fitness journey, and save some time in the process.

The first step is to make sure your friend’s diary is visible to you. If you can’t see your friend’s diary, ask them to adjust their settings. (Learn more about managing your diary privacy here.)

Once you can see your friend’s diary, you can browse to any date and either copy a meal into your own diary, or save it for later use if it’s something you eat regularly. Copying meals varies slightly between the website and our mobile apps, but you can find details for all platforms are here. And, if you’re an iOS or Android user, you can see meal copying in action in our Tutorial Videos under Help > Video Tutorials > Meals and Recipes.

I’m going back to my crossword puzzle now—eyes off my paper, guys!

Have you tried copying a friend’s meal? How do you lean on your friends when it comes to healthy food choices? Tell us in the comments!
