The New Healthier You Fitness Plan, Day 6: Play Date

Welcome back to The New Healthier You Fitness Plan. On day 6 of each week, we’ll focus on moving in a fun, freeing way.

We get so caught up in “serious” exercise when we’re focused on our goals, but having fun is a key component to any successful fitness plan. If you aren’t enjoying yourself at least some of the time, it’s hard to stick with a program over the long term—and we all know that consistency is the key to seeing results.

That’s why all I want you to focus on for today is getting moving and having FUN! Forget about how many calories you’re burning, and simply get out and have a great time. Schedule a date with a friend to learn how to swing on the trapeze, or take the kids ice skating. The more you are moving and laughing (or at least smiling), the better!

Need some more ideas to get you started? How about:

Tell me, what kind of fun did you have today with movement? Leave me a comment below and let us know what you did to get moving and smiling today!

I agree with the sentiment but I think your links really demonstrates how dull exercise has become and how uncreative personal trainers have got. No, standing on one leg on a Bosu ball while balancing a barbell on your nose for 3 seconds is not fun.

In the article you talk about ice skating and swinging on a trapeze – yes, definitely a giggle! But then you link to running, trail running, ab work and washing the car. If that is how fun exercise gets, then pass me the burger, I’d rather be obese. 😀

Fortunately, I don’t exercise – I play a variety of fun sports which get me laughing at least once in a session. Try dodgeball and you’ll see what I mean. 🙂
