Affogato is a simple Italian dessert made by pouring freshly brewed espresso over ice cream or gelato. In this holiday spin, we use low-fat chocolate ice cream (you could sub in dairy-free ice cream, too!) and top with espresso, crushed peppermint candies a sprinkle of flaky sea salt. It’s an excellent low-fat dessert that is just as easy to make for one as it is for 10. All you have to do is put your glasses in the freezer before dinner and then pull them out and start scooping ice cream while you brew your espresso or coffee. If you’re feeling extra-festive, you can also add a shot of peppermint schnapps. This dessert has few ingredients, so use the best ones you can get your hands on.
