When your schedule is packed, and it feels impossible to fit a few minutes in for meditation, don’t worry. You don’t need to be tied to your meditation cushion to find a little peace of mind. In fact, one of the most effective ways to find a little bit of calm is to practice mindfulness while doing routine activities like brushing your teeth or eating. Research has shown that 50% of the time, our thoughts aren’t related to what we’re doing, as if our mind has put our body on autopilot so it can run wild. This kind of mind wandering has been proven to contribute to our unhappiness. Next time, snap out of autopilot by simply being present with whatever you’re doing.
