The air fryer cooks salmon to perfection, giving it a slight crust on the outside while keeping the interior moist — all in 8 minutes or less. If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the salmon at 400°F (200ºC) for about 10 minutes. This recipe serves two. If you’d like to double it, be careful to not overcrowd the air fryer and cook the fish in two batches.

RD Tip

Between the antioxidants in the berries and the omega-3’s in the salmon, this meal packs an anti-inflammatory powerhouse that benefits your heart.

Air Fryer Salmon With Arugula-Berry Salad

Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3/8 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 (4-ounce/113g) skinless farmed salmon fillets
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 4 cups (76g) baby arugula
  • 1 cup (126g) fresh raspberries
  • 1 cup (125g) fresh strawberries, sliced

Directions

In a small bowl, combine chili powder, 1/8 teaspoon each salt and pepper, brown sugar and garlic powder; sprinkle mixture evenly over the top of the salmon fillets.

Preheat the air fryer, if necessary, to 400°F (200ºC). Coat the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Add salmon to the basket and air fry until desired degree of doneness, 7–8 minutes.

Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, whisk oil, vinegar, mustard and remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper. Add arugula, raspberries and strawberries; toss gently to coat. Serve salmon with salad.
