Possibly the perfect snack, popcorn is loaded with fiber and antioxidants. Here are a dozen ways to pimp it out.

Start with 3 cups (air-popped or nuked, it’s 93 calories), and then get at the toppings—these are all good to go for under 200 calories total.

1. Hot-Cocoa Powder 40 calories, 1.5 grams fat per 1/2 packet

2. Ground Ginger 2 calories, 0 g fat per 1/4 teaspoon

3. Ground Cinnamon 6 calories, 0 g fat per 1 teaspoon

4. Coconut Shreds 29 calories, 2 g fat per tablespoon

5. Peanut Butter, Melted 71 calories, 6 g fat per 3/4 tablespoon

6. Marshmallows 40 calories, 0 g fat per 1/4 cup minis

7. Chili Powder 8 calories, 0 g fat per teaspoon

8. Black Pepper 6 calories, 0 g fat per 1 teaspoon

9. Cayenne Pepper 1 calorie, 0 g fat per 1/4 teaspoon

10. Parmesan 43 calories, 3 g fat per 2 grated tablespoons

11. Turkey Bacon 61 calories, 4 g fat per 1 thick slice, torn

    I like to sprinkle on some nutritional yeast–adds a cheesy taste and b vitamins.

    on 2-3 cups of plain popcorn popped in microwave in a paperbag, I sprinkle/pour 1 tbsp of olive oil and shake it all around. Then I sprinkle in a bit of salt and/or pepper and shake it all around.

    I’m a purist…I pop it in a pot on the stove and top it with melted light smart balance and a sprinkle of sea salt.

    It’d be nice if the people who wrote these articles would stop putting so much emphasis on fat when listing “healthy” stuff. Many of us need/choose to watch our sugar intake, and it’d be nice to see the sugar/carb number for these items, too.

    Jamaican Jerk seasoning. The combination of spicy and sweet is so good. Use canola cooking spray so the seasoning will stick.

    I melt coconut oil and add garlic powder, onion powder, cinnamon, stevia, himalayan salt and tumeric. Pour mixture over popcorn and enjoy. Tumeric gives the popcorn a deep yellow color.

    At work, we drain jalepenos in a jar and mix that in for some Angry Corn.

    I usually top it with Cabot’s Cheddar Shake, black pepper and chili powder. Makes an awesome chili cheese popcorn and low in calories.
